The Secrets, History and Magic of Walt Disney Studios Park at Disneyland Paris

Segway-magique!

Wednesday 11th June 2008 in ,

They were first reported a few weeks ago on the French message boards and now our own camera has captured pictures of one of the two Segways.

The idea is simple, a trained Guest Flow Cast Member approaches guests throughout the park and asks them if they’ve seen Cinémagique already. If they haven’t, the Segway CM will escort the guests to the attraction.

Cinémagique, once a very popular attraction at the park, is struggling filling up its theatre since The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror opened its doors. However, thanks to its soaring guest satisfaction numbers management is trying all kinds of creative ways to fill the empty seats once again.

Cinémagique’s left side is currently surrounded by the famous green construction fences for a complete repaint. The purple border above the queue line has been turned into a white/crème colour and a large chunk of wall inside the waiting area has been painted purple instead.

Also, some of the light bulbs in the waiting area are being replaced by flashing strobe-lights.

A new feature has been added before each performance of Cinémagique: the Ciné Classics Band. The former West Street Band (which performed inside Disney Studio 1) has been moved to Studio 2 where they play live music right before the projector starts rolling, as it was in the old days of cinema.

The bandstand in front of the Last Chance gas station at Disney Studio 1 has been completely removed (see photo), creating more space for the Cinéfolies crew.

A new silver screen

Wednesday 6th September 2006 in ,

The refurb of Cinémagique slated for 22nd to 25th January 2007 will most likely include the replacement of the current screen. This new screen is more than welcome since scratches and dents on the almost five year old screen can be clearly seen while watching the show.

The latest calendar of scheduled attraction closures has just been released, and it appears that, as Walt Disney Studios Park nears its 5th birthday, the attractions will be getting more care to compensate for their age. Studio Tram Tour will be given a mysteriously long 3-week refurbishment in November this year, whilst Flying Carpets Over Agrabah will close for 3 weeks in March, likely to allow major work to take place in this area of the park for the Toon Studio enhancement project.

The full closure schedule is as follows:

  • Studio Tram Tour: 6th to 24th November 2006
  • Animagique: 13th to 17th November 2006
  • Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith: 11th to 14th December 2006
  • CinéMagique: 22nd to 25th january 2007
  • Flying Carpets Over Agrabah: 5th to 23rd March 2007

Our source informs us that a short clip will be shown every day before each Cinémagique show to promote Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, a new television show on Disney Channel.  Full episodes will be shown at Videopolis all day between The Legend of the Lion King performances.

Mickey Mouse Clubhouse is a 3D animation that introduces a new generation of preschoolers to Mickey Mouse and his friends.
