The Secrets, History and Magic of Walt Disney Studios Park at Disneyland Paris

Crush’s Coaster News

New warning signs have been installed at several locations in the Crush’s Coaster queue line.

Guests are advised that the vehicles may “prohibit guests of certain body shapes or sizes from riding”.

Incident at Crush’s Coaster?

Sunday 30th November 2008 in

French media are reporting about an incident on Crush’s Coaster yesterday. A man supposedly jumped 7 metres from the attraction vehicle he was sitting in and was taken to the hospital in severe condition.

However, insiders at the park self claim that the man tripped on the emergency staircase during an evacuation of the attraction and was able to drive home himself.

More details will likely leak out the coming days.

Google Earth has (finally) updated its satellite image from Disneyland Resort Paris with a recent snapshot from October 2007. Toon Studio (with Cars Race Rally and Crush’s Coaster) is open and Tower of Terror is clearly present with the Hollywood Boulevard near completion.

It’s rumoured that DLRP will soon be presented on Google Earth by 3D buildings, similar to Walt Disney World who launched its virtual resort not so long ago..

What do you think about using the FASTPASS system on Crush’s Coaster? This capacity-starved attraction certainly isn’t going hungry on guests – they continue to line up in their thousands each and every day for a thrilling ride on the EAC, but is the timeslot ticket system an answer?

It seems the operations managers of Disneyland Resort Paris are still not quite so sure. Which is why, from 18th to 24th August 2008, the full FASTPASS tests are due to return again!

This information comes from member Chti Greg on Disney Central Plaza forum, who provided the original forewarning of the July tests — and just happens to work as a cast member on the attraction itself.

New Fast Pass tests started yesterday at Crush’s Coaster. The Fast Pass machines from the Flying Carpets over Agrabah now print Crush’s Coaster tickets. A temporary sign at the entrance of the attraction points to both the Standby and the Fast Pass lines.

Other tests in the past have not been successful yet, due to the low-capacity nature of the Maurer-Söhne coaster.

The Crush’s Coaster Fast Pass tests seem to have ended as all signs have been removed from the Flying Carpets over Agrabah Fast Pass machines. To be continued?

A new merchandise kiosk appeared next to Animagique this week.
It had been under construction for over a week backstage now, only to be installed next to Studio 2 yesterday.

We don’t have any photos for now, but will update this message as soon as we do!

UPDATE: A reader has send in a photo, revealing that the kiosk is appropriately selling Cars and Finding Nemo merchandise!

magicblog, the blog by Photos Magiques dedicated to Imagineering and Disneyland Resort Paris’ history, takes a closer look at the new Toon Backlot area, part of Toon Studio.

Did you know that the common theme of the backlot area is the large backdrops for each attraction? Find out more today at magicblog!

A stroll around Toon Backlot

Over just a few years, many changes have been made at the former Animation Courtyard. We’re comparing two photos from 2004 and 2007 to highlight the changes.

Other major change was the addition of the Toon Backlot area (the location where Crush’s Coaster and Cars Rally is build). The old location, visual from the Flying Carpets photo platform, was empty and really made the Walt Disney Studios Park feel like an empty carpark. But that has changed…

The information board on Disney Bros. Plaza has been updated with the new park plan and new signs for the attractions.

The new attractions have been added to the list, including The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror which is marked “Coming Soon”.

Additionally are the restaurants listed with a mentioning what type of restaurant it is.

We’ve uploaded a video to YouTube from the new Toon Studio Plaza at night!

Photos Magiques has a whole bunch of photos from the press event from past weekend at Walt Disney Studios Park. See the official inauguration by Karl Holz, tons of characters including the rare Mike from Monsters Inc, the Ratatouille characters and Toon Studio at night!
