The Secrets, History and Magic of Walt Disney Studios Park at Disneyland Paris

Front Lot News

Work on the Walt Disney Studios Store new entrance continues. A planter has been completely removed behind the construction fences. White construction fences have been installed inside the shop and work seems to have started on the boutique’s façade.

It was revealed in an interview with the resort’s manager for all boutiques that the Walt Disney Studios Store would be opened up to attract more guests.

The sponsor plaque on Place des Frères Lumière (on the external wall of Studio Photo) has finally been updated with a current list of sponsors, replacing the more than 5 year old list.

The list covers the sponsors for the entire resort. They are:

  • Coca-Cola
  • Danone
  • Dole
  • Ford
  • Hasbro
  • Hertz
  • IBM
  • Kellogg’s
  • Kodak
  • Nestlé
  • Orange (France Télécom)
  • Unilever

The Classic Toon Band is a live band that performs daily (except on Thursday and Friday) several classic Disney tunes on Place des Frères Lumière and in Toon Studio.

The schedule for August is:

  • Place des Frères Lumière: 09.25am, 10.15am, 11am
  • Toon Studio: 13.10pm, 14.05pm

Each performance lasts around 20 minutes.

Toon Train video!

Thursday 19th July 2007 in , ,

The Toon Train was rumoured for quite some time on the magicforum, but has now been confirmed.

The “train”, which will be exactly the same trailer as used for the Starring Cruella De Vil show, will make it’s appearance not at Toon Studio as expected, but on Place des Frères Lumières (Front Lot).

The trailer pulled by a large pick up truck features three sets: an office, a large Toon Town backdrop and a dressing room. Clarice, Chip and Dale’s female friend (see photo below) will be the main star. She and the other toons will be accompanied by the resident Walt Disney Studios musicians.

The Toon Train will roll out daily (except on Mondays and Tuesdays) from 14th July to 26th August at 11.15am, 12.15pm, 13.15pm, 15.45pm and 16.40pm.

Work on the new flooring in front of Walt Disney Studios Park has been started as the concrete floor has been completely scraped off, leaving a bare concrete ground layer behind.

It’s expected that tiles or something similar will be used in favour of coloured concrete for a better durability.

Refurb projects are sproucing up all around the Resort to get the parks nice and shiny for the 15th Anniversary celebration.

This time work has started in front of the Walt Disney Studios gates as the floor leading up to the park has suffered from the many people, heavy delivery trucks and salt during the freezing Marne-la-Vallée weather.

DLRP_bopazot has posted some photos on the MiceChat forums showing how guests are welcomed by another line up of construction fences, leading to the far right of the park’s gates.

Still in make-up

Monday 27th November 2006 in , ,

The Front Lot refurbishment continues slowly but surely, as the repainted Studio Photo shows its refurbished colours and the Studio Services building vanishes under a coat of new white base paint.

With Tower of Terror and most of Animation Courtyard already surrounded by a sea of construction fences, there’s definitely no continuity errors in this production…

With the repainting of Walt Disney Studios Store almost completed, work has moved across the Place des Frères Lumière to Studio Photo and the Stroller & Wheelchair rental building, which has been given a new white basecoat in preparation for a welcome repaint.

Work is also still ongoing at the park’s ticket desks, where the canopy pillars are being repainted following the refurbishment of the inside walls last month.

More and more Christmas decorations are popping in the park. Halloween isn’t celebrated at Walt Disney Studios, so the decorating team has been constantly putting up Christmas decorations the past month. There are no remarkable changes compared to the other years, but there’s still much to finish up before the season starts on November 11th.

The rehab of the Walt Disney Studios Store has been expanded all over the building now. The right side has been finished off with a deeper shade of orange, while the other side has just received its layer of white primer.

The ticket booths outside the park are being repainted job as well, in similar deeper orange colours.

The Walt Disney Studios Store on Front Lot is receiving for the first time in its history a rehab on the façade! Green construction walls fence off the right side of the building, blocking the view on the work in progress.

Sources claim that a darker orange might be used for a warmer touch on Front Lot.
