The Secrets, History and Magic of Walt Disney Studios Park at Disneyland Paris

Hollywood Boulevard News

The Disney Central Plaza Facebook page reports a new Ice Cream Truck has been installed on Hollywood Blvd. The retro-style truck fits in the 1950′s style of the Blvd.

No word what’s going to happen with the Ice Cream shop that replaced one of the Blvd. windows last year.

Construction fences have been placed in front of Franklin Department Store façade. Several sources on fan message boards claim a Ben & Jerry’s ice cream location will be build inside in the façade.

Google Earth has (finally) updated its satellite image from Disneyland Resort Paris with a recent snapshot from October 2007. Toon Studio (with Cars Race Rally and Crush’s Coaster) is open and Tower of Terror is clearly present with the Hollywood Boulevard near completion.

It’s rumoured that DLRP will soon be presented on Google Earth by 3D buildings, similar to Walt Disney World who launched its virtual resort not so long ago..

It’s a waiting game at Studio Tram Tour. No, not a WDS Fan waiting in vain for improvements or expansion to the tour, but a brand new electronic Wait Time sign at the entrance to the attraction.

Since the attraction said goodbye to its billboard-style entrance façade and welcomed a new Hollywood hills tunnel entrance, it has been completely without the electronic wait time sign that can be found at almost every other attraction.

Now, as a final touch to the Hollywood Boulevard project, the small planter to the right of the tunnel has been fitted with a bright yellow, diamond-shaped roadsign to display exactly how long you’ll have to wait for your date with Jeremy Irons.

Currently, it has yet to be fully-functional, the old magnetic board by its side still in use, but it shouldn’t be too long before it begins posting up those lengthy 5 and 10 minute queues…

A new entertainment offering is added to the Walt Disney Studios Park list. Disney Villain diva Cruella De Vil travels in style in an old-timer marked with spots from the Cinémagique parade gate to Hollywood Blvd. where she performs sets several times a day.

Park operations continues to put efforts in attracting more guests to Walt Disney Studios Park. When the new Toon Studio attractions opened, a large amount of posters appeared all over the resort advertising Crush’s Coaster and Cars Quattre Roues Rallye.

A new set of posters is now showing up, for Tower of Terror this time. They follow the already installed poster over the moving walkways towards the parking lot.

Other posters have been replaced as well: the Ratatouille ones on Disney Studio 1 by ads for Disney’s new hit Enchanted. Unfortunately is the large Cars billboard still present…

A quick comparison between 2 photos from the new Hollywood Boulevard in 2007 and the same location in 2004.

The Franklin Department Store façade, located to the far right of the Boulevard, received some interesting decorations on the back. Since it’s now enclosing the Art of Disney Animation queue, Imagineers opted to integrate the bare wall into the design of that Toon Studio attraction.

Several drawings from famous Disney characters (of which Mulan could be recognized from a distance) are now painted in the same style as the Art of Disney attraction’s own queue line!

Lighting posts everywhere!

Thursday 8th November 2007 in

Construction workers have rushed in a whole bunch of different lighting posts at the Hollywood Studio area. Large posts had already been installed along side the palmtrees, but smaller light fixtures have now been added at the base of those poles.

Similar posts as the ones in the external Tower of Terror queue line were being installed behind the Hollywood Buildings. And to conclude, bare poles had been installed as well in front of the buildings, awaiting their light fixture.

Our camera also snapped a themed lighting rig which will light up the “Los Feliz Hotel” 2D set.
