The Secrets, History and Magic of Walt Disney Studios Park at Disneyland Paris

Restaurant des Stars News

We’ve been treated to this event more often than usual in recent years, but it’s still an exciting moment…

The updated Walt Disney Studios Park map for 2010 has been published, adding Toy Story Playland and its three attractions, changing Backlot Express to Disney Blockbuster Café, changing Rendez-Vous des Stars Restaurant to Restaurant des Stars, switching the positions of Playhouse Disney and Stitch Live! and finally removing the old Studio Tram Tour billboard in favour of the new Hollywood backdrop.

Of course, it’s the three new attractions which will be scrutinised the most. We see RC Racer, its height exaggerated above tree heigh rather a lot, Slinky Dog Zig Zag Spin with some of his springs closed, the “Monkeys in a Barrel” tunnel at the back of the land and Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop… with nothing attached to the parachutes!

As far as detail goes, it’s surprisingly less precise than the resort map released just the other day, missing the quite substantial queue buildings for Slinky and Toy Soldiers, the giant baseball/Pixar ball and other details. However, Buzz Lightyear still appears prominently at the entrance, with a new Toy Story Playland logo. Unlike other attractions at the park, these three aren’t given their own logos. The area will form a sub-land of Toon Studio.

Note also the reconfigured Studio Tram Tour route, which appears to show an airfield scene featuring the planes of the old Pearl Harbor location. In real life, this area is still the “boneyard” of miscellaneous props.

Mouetto posted these photos on Disney Central Plaza showing Rendez-Vous des Stars without its sign.

Blue fences have been placed not so long ago to start construction on what will change the all-you-can-eat-buffet into “Restaurant des Stars”, Walt Disney Studios Park’s first full table service restaurant.

Disney Central Plaza member “McFly” suggests on the French message board that Rendez-Vous des Stars will see its name changed somewhere in April into “Restaurant des Stars”.

According to him, this is one of the first steps to upgrade the restaurant into a full table service restaurant.

Disney Central Plaza member “McFly” claims on the French message board that Rendez-Vous des Stars is currently being considered by management to transform it into a full table service restaurant in the future.

Drinks are now served on table and cocktails will follow throughout this month, according to “McFly”.

Walt Disney Studios Park’s first coffee shop, sponsored by Nescafé, opened last week for guests.

A sign outside the kiosk informs how a cup of coffee can be customised. First a selection of coffee has to be made (Latte, Cappuccino, etc), then a flavoured syrup, followed by a topping (chocolate, cinnamon, …).

A similar offering already exists for several months at La Terrasse where a glass of Perrier water can be customised with flavoured syrup as well.

Café Cafés, the new permanent snack stand inside the Rendez-Vous Des Stars Restaurant was revealed today as its construction fences have been removed.

Surprisingly, an interior seating area has been included in the design. The walls, frosted glass and tables are adorned with references to coffee beans.

Café Cafés will open in August and offer snacks and flavoured coffee.

Our camera filmed the brand new “living characters” meet ‘n’ greet at Rendez-Vous des Stars with chef Rémy!

No no, we’re not talking about the meet ‘n’ greet location in Toon Studio! And we’re not talking about the proposed attraction either… In fact, we’re talking about a DLRP exclusive living character from Walt Disney Imagineering!

You still remember Lucky the Dinosaur, right? And Push the Trashcan who also roamed the Backlot area of our Studios Park? And then there’s also the lovely Wall-E character that’s going to be introduced at Disney’s California Adventure Park soon! Well this time Disneyland Resort Paris will be the test ground for its own exclusive living character… And who else would be better than Rémy from Ratatouile???!!!

La Roquine reported earlier on Disney Central Plaza about the experiment and since then we’ve had the chance to talk to people directly involved with the project.
Imagine you’re having lunch at Rendez-Vous des Stars and suddenly a Cast Member pulls a cart to your table filled with cheese. She asks if she can offer you some and removes the cover, only to reveal Rémy between a pile of cheese. He moves and talks to the unsuspecting guests around the table!

Sounds great, doesn’t it! Our source revealed that Cast Member training is happening this week and as early as next week or the week after the first tests will start at the restaurants of the Disneyland Hotel and Rendez-Vous des Stars.

Thanks to La Roquine and “S-A”.

Construction fences have been placed at both ends of the covered outdoor seating area of Rendez-vous des Stars.

It has been rumoured that a new Nescafé snackstand will be added on that location.

A mysterious construction started last week near Rendez-Vous des Stars which has now been revealed by La Roquine at Disney Central Plaza as a permanent snack stand sponsored by Nestlé.

There’s no information however when the stand will open and what it will look like.

Our WDSfans photographer visited the new all-you-can-eat buffet at Rendez-Vous des Stars, and got pleasantly surprised.

The restaurant did not just change it’s food offerings, it also changed the whole theme! Disney-Pixar’s Ratatouille can be found all over the restaurant! From the menu outside to Remy and Emile cut-out’s and plush inside.

It’s not known yet if the new layover of the Pixar characters is permanent, or just a marketing trick by Ratatouille’s marketing team.

The current menu costs 23 euro’s for an adult (12 euro’s for each child), which includes one drink. Oh and yes, a ratatouille dish is being served.

More changes are coming to Walt Disney Studios Park. Not just more theming, attractions or shows, but also a change in food offering. From 27th August will Rendez-Vous des Stars transformed into an all-you-can-eat restaurant, the first in its kind at the Walt Disney Studios Park.

According to several sources at French message boards will the restaurant offer for the price of 23 euros an all-you-can-eat and -drink formula and a menu that will be very similar to the one at Plaza Gardens in Disneyland Park.
